There is currently a lack of information regarding Google's upcoming Pixel Watch, but that should change in the coming weeks. Additional details about the Pixel Watch, along with other new Google products like the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, are expected to be unveiled at an event scheduled for October 6.

At its I/O developer conference in May, Google gave a sneak peek at the Pixel Watch. The company demonstrated the watch's aesthetic design and mentioned that it would incorporate some of Fitbit's health tracking capabilities but gave few further details. In particular, we have no idea when the Pixel Watch will go on sale or how much it will cost.

Google has been developing wearables software for years, but the Pixel Watch is the company's first smartwatch aimed at the general public. Like the Pixel phones did for Android phones, this lets Google show off its vision for the perfect Android timepiece.

So, in preparation for Google's following announcement, here is all we know about the Pixel Watch.

It's coming out this fall alongside Google's Pixel 7 smartphone.

In May, Google announced that the official release of the Pixel Watch would occur in the fall. There's hope the Pixel Watch will be unveiled soon after Google's October 6 presentation. And if that's the case, the Pixel Watch's release timeline would mirror that of other Google devices. For instance, Google introduced the Pixel 5 at a press conference on September 30, 2020, and the Pixel 6 at an event on October 19, 2020.

Google's Pixel Watch is a wristwatch with a spherical face and interchangeable bands.

Google has been very open about the design of the Pixel Watch. Consistent with the rumors, Google's first smartwatch will feature a circular face with a domed shape and glass that appears to bend over the sides. The watch's body is eco-friendly stainless steel and features an Apple Watch-inspired tactile crown. Additionally, interchangeable straps can be ordered. According to 9to5Google, the look will be available in black, silver, and gold and will be 40 millimeters broad and 14 millimeters thick.

The Pixel Watch, from what we've seen so far, has a striking design that can hold its own against other high-end smartwatches like the Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, and others. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, was also seen at the Code 2022 conference sporting what appeared to be a Pixel Watch.

The watch will be run by Google's Wear OS and apps.

The new Google wristwatch will, unsurprisingly, utilize Google's Wear OS. Google didn't reveal many details about the watch's software, only that it was "fluid" and "simple to browse." The operating system is "tappable," "voice-enabled," and "glanceable," according to Rick Osterloh, Google's senior vice president of devices and services. Apps including Google Maps, Google Wallet, Google Home, and the Google Assistant were briefly shown off on the watch during the event.

Though it won't be a standalone fitness tracker, it will work with Fitbit.

The newest Fitbit Sense 2, Versa 4, and Inspire three models show that the company has no plans to stop making wearables anytime soon. However, some of the most popular Fitbit features will eventually make their way to the Google Watch. These features include a constant heart rate monitor, an analysis of your sleep patterns, and an indicator of how long you exercise in various heart rate zones (Active Zone Minutes). Google also demonstrated how Fitbit data, such as heart rate and steps, can be viewed on the watch face.

However, which precise health tracking sensors will be integrated into the Pixel Watch remains unknown. The Pixel Watch will likely adopt more Fitbit functions in the future. "This is not a one and done," Fitbit co-founder and Google wearables head James Park told CNET's, Scott Stein. We'll add new features and fix bugs over time.

Only Android-powered gadgets will be able to use it.

According to a Google representative, the Pixel Watch will not be compatible with Apple's iPhones because it was designed to work exclusively with Google's Pixel devices. Fitbit's watches and trackers are compatible with iOS and Android, which is likely one of the main reasons why the Pixel Watch won't replace Fitbit's products.

The choice to use a mobile device is forthcoming.

The Pixel Watch will be available with 4G LTE connectivity from Google, allowing it to stay connected to the internet even when a user's phone isn't nearby. One way Google may differentiate its smartwatches from Fitbit's is by offering cellular connectivity, something Fitbit's smartwatches do not.

A high price tag is expected.

Currently, the price of a Google Pixel Watch is unknown. However, Osterloh stated in a press conference that the product would be priced higher than its competitors. It's not entirely obvious what this means, but it appears capable of competing with the Apple Watch Series 8 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. Apple's high-end watch prices begin at $399 (£419, AU$629), while Samsung's typically start at $250 (£249). This is to rumors from 9to5Google and Pricebaba, which suggest that the Wi-Fi-only version may cost between 250 and 350 euros in Europe, and the cellular version may start at $399 in the United States.

Performance, memory, and other technical details.

Google has been tight-lipped regarding the Pixel Watch's features. However, 9to5Google claims it has.

Google claims to know specifics about the device's battery, CPU, and memory. Once charged, the Pixel Watch's 300 mAh battery should keep the watch going for roughly 24 hours. That sounds about right for competing with the Apple Watch, although anecdotally, I've been able to get about a day and a half out of the new Series 8.

According to 9to5Google's speculation, the Pixel Watch will use Samsung's Exynos 9110 engine and a coprocessor, coupled with 1.5GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The usual mobile device has 8GB of RAM, giving you an idea of the scale. The Pixel Watch will probably share the same 32GB storage capacity as the Apple Watch.
