The Lens on Android now supports Google Images reverse image searches

Google Lens, which has been developing for ten years, brings reverse image search to Android.

Online, Google makes it quite simple to perform a reverse image search. To use Google Images, navigate there, hit the tiny camera button, and then upload the image you wish to look for. Although Google Lens' Visual matching feature on mobile devices may perform reverse picture searches, some users may prefer a more traditional approach. Thankfully, Google Lens is rapidly catching up to you, even in this respect.

According to 9to5Google, the Google Lens app will soon include the ability to perform an ad hoc reverse image search via Google Images. If participating in the rollout, you'll be able to select the feature while using Google Lens to examine an image. To access it, look for a new button that floats in the rightmost area of your screen. It's a magnifying glass on a globe, and when you tap it, Google Images will open in your browser with search results for the image you've selected.

To use Google Images' reverse image search, users previously had to switch to the desktop site or employ a third-party app. Yes, there's Lens for that, but it's not always accurate, and this is as close as we've come to doing a reverse image search on Google Images, despite Google's apparent desire to kill off the desktop version of the service.

Furthermore, this is not the first instance of this shortcut appearing on Lens. When Google Chrome's "Search image with Google Lens" sidebar was initially released, a "Find image source" button appeared prominently above the search results. This button has only recently been added to the mobile site.

Users should expect to see this new feature soon. However, reaching your device may take some time; we haven't seen it on our mobile devices yet. To utilise the Lens feature, you must have the most up-to-date version of the Google app installed. Downloading the Google Lens app from the Play Store will only take you to the correct part of the main Google app.
